This is the digital archive of the Birmingham & Five Counties Architectural Association Trust (B5CAAT), affiliated to RIBA West Midlands. This archive was digitised using large format overhead scanners to optimise the digital quality of the ‘analogue’ archives digitised thanks to the Architectus project.

The archive provides scholars with open access to over 800 unique individual assets, grouped as appropriate by author or architectural practice. This includes unique student work dating back to the 1930s and architectural designs pertaining to some of the most famous and thought provoking examples of contemporary West Midlands architecture e.g. the Selfridges Building in the New Birmingham Bull Ring and The John Madin Collection. The late John Madin’s internationally significant work included the Birmingham Central Library (1974), BBC Pebble Mill and much of Dawley New Town (later becoming Telford). Large format digitisation was undertaken by Digital Capture Solutions.
